IMSAR Alumni Association General Body Meeting was held on 18th November 2012 in the Conference Hall of IMSAR, M.D. University, Rohtak.

The following resolutions were passed in the said meeting:-

President Mr. Deepak Sehgal welcome all the life members, Dr. V.K. Kaushik Secretary, IMSAR Alumni Association presented the progress report for the year 2011-2012. Dr. Raj Kumar, Treasurer presented the Income and Expenditure statement for the year 2011-2012. The house confirmed the proceedings of the previous meeting held on 13th November 2011. The following office bearers were elected unanimously for two years (2012-2014).

  3. Dr. Raj Kumar, Secretary
  4. Dr. V. K. Kaushik, Treasurer

The house extended special thanks to the outgoing team for their sheer efforts for reviewing and strengthening the IMSAR Alumni Association.

The President was authorized to constitute his executive committee as per constitution.
It was further resolved that IMSAR Alumni Association’s Journal may be reviewed for mobilizing funds for Association’s activities.
It was further resolved that Association should promote entrepreneurship and interaction with corporate. For this Industry -Institute interaction Cell should be constituted.
The meeting ended with vote of thanks extended by Director, Prof. Neelam Jain.

General Board Meeting

This is for the information to all the members that General Body Meeting of IMSAR Alumni Association scheduled to be held on 11th November 2012 is postponed due to the Dhanteras festival falling on this day, and majority of the members had shown their reluctance in attending. Now the meeting is scheduled to be held on 18th November 2012 at 10 AM, IMSAR MD University Rohtak.

IMSAR CELEBRATED THE REUNION 2009

IMSAR celebrated its Alumni Meet on 8th November, 2009 with full enthusiasm. Hundreds of Alumni from different parts of the country congregated to celebrate the reunion and cherish the memories of time they spent in IMSAR as students. Their sentiments were out flowing. The Meet started with holding of General Body at Conference Hall of IMSAR. The General Body Meeting resolved that an entrepreneurial cell be created in the association to guide and support IMSAR Business Incubation Centre (IBIC) to provide hands on learning to students of IMSAR and help them to become entrepreneurs. It also decided to contribute Rs. 45000/- to IBIC. Mr. Sunil Kaul has been unanimously appointed as Vice-President of the Association.

In his address, Prof. Ajay K. Rajan explained the vision and mission of the association alongwith highlighting the role of Alumni to promote the interest of IMSAR. Dr. Rajan iterated that Alumni are the true ambassador of the Institute.

The function started with lightening of lamps by Director, IMSAR, President of IMSAR Alumni Association accompanied with other senior Alumni. Suman Pahal and Sonia Hooda gave a marvelous starting to the function by discussing the current achievement of IMSAR.

Mr. Neeraj Sehgal (1997 batch) made an impressive presentation on face-lifting the website of IMSAR Alumni Association i.e. www. Imsaralumni.org. He has given a completely new look to the website. After that secretary, IMSAR Alumni Association has submitted progress report of the activities of IMSAR Alumni Association and advised the students to join the site of IMSAR Alumni Association so that the students can get the benefit of the site.

Dr. O.P. Duhan conducted interactive session with the students. They discussed how the students can be benefitted by the experience of Alumni for selection of their specialization as well as the companies as per their areas of interest. Many senior Alumni like Mr. Arun Rathee, Dr. H.J. Ghosh Roy, Ms. Kirti Dutta, Mr. Sahni has participated in this discussion.

The students were motivated and encouraged by their knowledge and experience. The batch of 1984 also celeberated its Silver Jubilee. A gala cultural show filled with fun, energy, excitement and colourful performance by students added flavor to Alumni Meet.

The Meet ended with delicious lunch.

Talent Management

Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak

Talent management is the key to organisational development. Organisations preparing themselves for future challenges need to focus on attracting, developing and retaining talent.

B.K. Mahapatra, vice-president (human resources) of Grasim Industries, said while delivering a special lecture on Talent Management at the Institute of Management Studies and Research (IMSAR) on the campus of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) here recently.

In his address, Mahapatra called for the adoption of a focused approach vis-a-vis talent management. He advocated the need for succession planning for critical positions in organisations.

Talking to students, he exhorted them to develop futuristic vision and have clear-cut career goals. He observed that the students must have a strong desire to excel and passion for their dreams. He advised the students to develop multiple skills for success in the corporate sector. He also answered questions from the students on various aspects of human resource and talent management.

Earlier, the Director of IMSAR, Prof A.K. Rajan, delivered the welcome address. He said the Indian economy was on the rise and in the new economic scenario; there was an acute need for talented personnel. Senior faculty member Dr H.J. Ghosh Roy proposed the vote of thanks. Faculty members and students of IMSAR were present.

Special Lecture Series

Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak

A two-day special lecture programme was organised on the campus of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) here under the aegis of United States Educational Foundation of India (USEFI) recently.

USEFI visiting faculty member, Prof Bijoy Bordoloi of Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville (USA), delivered talks on “Evaluating Wi-Fi network for security tracks” and “Economics of offshore outsourcing.” He gave a detailed account of the academic scenario prevailing in the USA during discussions. He threw light on student-entrepreneurship deeds of Michael Dell, Mark Anderson and Bill Gates.

The Director, Institute of Management Studies and Research (IMSAR), Prof A.K. Rajan, Head, Computer Science, Dr Nasib Singh Gill, besides other senior faculty members and students of the university were present on the occasion.

 

IMSAR Day celebrated

Students, faculty and staff of the Institute of Management Studies and Research (IMSAR) at MDU celebrated “IMSAR Day” on September 28. Cultural and literary events, besides management games were organised at the institute to mark the event. The items included dumb charades, different strokes, ad-mad show, skits, solo dance, group dance and group song performances.

A magazine of the institute—IMSAR.com—was launched on the occasion by Lalit Jain, CMD, LPS Group. Addressing the students, Jain exhorted them to “dream big and work hard to realise the same.” The IMSAR Director, Prof A.K.Rajan, and senior faculty member, Dr H. J. Ghosh Roy, also spoke. A number of IMSAR alumni as well as corporate professionals were present.

Alumni website launched

Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak

A website of alumni of IMSAR (Institute of Management Studies and Research) was launched on May 13. The website is www.imsaralumni.org. This website was launched by 1982 batch alumnus R.K.Jain. A 1983-batch alumnus, Deepak Jain, presided over the website launch ceremony. The Director, IMSAR, Prof A. K. Rajan, faculty member Dr H. J. Ghosh Roy and Raj Kumar were present on the occasion along with IMSAR Alumni Association general secretary Dr V. K. Kaushik. This website will provide an interactive platform for present students to interact with the IMSAR alumni and help them to get placement opportunities as well.

Workshop on syllabi revision

Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak

Making course curriculum more relevant to the corporate and industrial sectors, introducing innovations in course curriculum as well as teaching pedagogy, improving the delivery mechanism of teaching and preparing students to suit market needs were the “mantras” elucidated by the Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University, Prof R.S. Dhankar, while inaugurating a one-day workshop on ‘Revision of Syllabi’ of Management Course(s) at the Institute of Management Studies and Research (IMSAR) here recently.

In his inaugural address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised the importance of syllabi revision. Underlining the importance of academic-industry interface, Professor Dhankar suggested introducing EDPs (executive development programmes) at IMSAR, having international academic linkages with foreign business schools and conducting more workshops on teaching methodology.

Delivering the welcome address, the IMSAR Director, Prof Ajay K. Rajan, observed that this workshop was a step towards bridging the gap between the industry/corporate sector and management institute(s). He disclosed that 11 new courses were being introduced in the MBA programme from the forthcoming academic session. Senior faculty member of IMSAR, Dr H.J.Ghosh Roy, conducted the workshop. The Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof Mukesh Dhunna, proposed the vote of thanks.

Management experts, including Prof Satish Kapur, Dean, University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh; Prof Suresh Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, HP University, Shimla; Prof Sanjeev Mittal from GGSIPU, Delhi; Dr R.C. Sharma, Director, Amity Business School, Manesar; Col Gaur from FIT; Kitty Mukherjee, communication expert, ICFAI National College; besides a galaxy of corporate sector specialists, participated in the workshop. Five technical sessions were organised during the workshop to deliberate on syllabi revision of specialisations of the MBA programme.
